Inspire Joy Through your Retail Store

Over the past two weeks, life has changed for everyone. Staying positive in this new reality can be difficult. As retailers, it is our obligation to inspire joy and happiness. We are there for the biggest, happiest moments in peoples lives Birthdays, Holidays, Graduations, and Anniversaries. All of life’s major events involve sharing an experience and giving a gift. Even a simple unexpected greeting card can brighten someone’s day.

Now more than ever it is up to you to make sure that you have a positive impact on someone’s life. Yes, it is difficult with no one leaving their home. However, there are things you can do that will get you and others through this time and set yourself up to thrive in the future. Here are three ideas we came up with to inspire you to spread a little joy.

Repackaged Surprise

There are two major holidays and a season change coming up. Easter, Mother’s Day and warmer spring weather will still be celebrated, just much differently then they have before. Help your customers create new traditions or spread the joy to family members that they can not physically be with. Create repackaged gifts that your customers can purchase for themselves or have sent to a loved one. Think about a different theme. What products pair well together? Be creative. You could create different sizes at different price points that allow access to customers regardless of their income situation.

Drop Ship

Don’t have the ability to ship items yourself? Are you low on certain inventory? Our vendors have been amazing partners. They want to do everything they can to help you through this difficult time. Many of them are offering direct to consumer drop shipping of their product. In most cases, you don’t even need a website. Your customer can order the product and the vendor will send it to them directly. You just provide the product and shipping details. Programs vary from vendor to vendor, so be sure to contact your sales rep to learn about vendor’s specific programs.

Support those Doing Good

Help those in your local community that are doing good. Offer care packages or donate a percentage of sales. Doctors, nurses, and first responders all need our support during this time. They are on the front lines in the fight to keep us all healthy. There are others too that are not thought of as first responders but have risked their health to make sure our lives are a little easier. People like grocery store clerks, delivery drivers, even our vendors. All these people are making a difference and supporting them in what every possible will help.

All of these ideas are meant to inspire you to think boldly and be positive. Yes, it is difficult, especially if your store is closed. So, how can you overcome that? Use your social media accounts to get the word out. Send an email to your customers. Direct them to your website to make purchases. If all else fails, give them a call, check up on them and let them know you have some ideas to help spread joy to their loved ones. In case you missed it we put together a great list of ideas to help you get the word out. You can find it here.  Remember, Inspire joy!
